While preparing to teach 6th-grade ELA for the first time this year, I spent my summer reading curriculum books, including must-haves like The Book Whisperer and 180 Days. Hands down the most useful book I read was Reaching the Whole Child by Teaching Whole-Class Novels by Robert Ward.
